Experience the joy of kayaking on one of the most beautiful rivers in Europe, revered by kayakers from all across the globe!
Are you a complete beginner who has never sat in a kayak before? Have you already paddled one but would prefer your first experience of a foreign river to be in the company of someone with an in-depth knowledge of the river Soča? Our friendly, highly-trained, experienced, and licensed guides will provide detailed information on the basics of kayaking and/or the characteristics of the river. With them by your side you will safely overcome the challenges of the rushing river!
General information
- Location: TOP Rafting Centre, Žaga 151, 5224 Srpenica near Bovec, Slovenia. Free parking, toilets, showers, changing rooms, and picnic area available at the Centre. We are the only ones in the Soča Valley with all of the above amenities!
- Equipment: we provide all the necessary equipment before the activity: kayak, paddle, spraydeck, neoprene suit (to protect you from the glacial waters of the river Soča and allow you to meet it up close by taking a swim at the end of the descent), helmet, anorak, life jacket, neoprene shoes. Please bring your own swimsuit and a towel.
- Skills: no prior knowledge or skills required. Our experienced guide will explain the basics of paddling for safe kayaking and skilfully guide you throughout the descent, so that by the end you will become experienced paddlers!
- Operating season: daily from the beginning of April till the end of September at 9.00, 13.00 and 16:30.
Essential requirements for safe kayaking: to swim, excellent health, intoxication due to alcohol or other substances strictly prohibited!
KAYAK DESCENT
White pebble beaches, green hillsides, grey mountain ridges - and us, in the heart of the emerald green river. We will begin our descent in Čezsoča, where the river is just lively enough to provide small challenges, but at the same time calm enough to allow us to admire the splendid nature surrounding us. We will paddle past the filming location of The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian and past Boka Waterfall, one of the most breath-taking waterfalls in Slovenia with the height of over 100 metres. This trail is not very crowded; even during peak holiday season, you will feel like you have all of the Soča Valley to yourself!

KAYAK SCHOOL
Would you like to grasp the basics of kayaking or improve your existing knowledge? The Kayak School is suitable both for complete beginners as well as for those who wish to improve their kayaking skills. You will learn how to sit in a kayak and hold the paddle, how to paddle, when and how to paddle in a straight line in calm water and through river rapids. You will learn the "Eskimo roll." We will teach you how to safely stop when you paddle into an eddy and when you encounter an obstacle; how to catch an eddy and manoeuvre out of it. We will teach you the correct paddling sequences, safe paddling in more demanding sections of the river, and how to paddle through waves and breaking waves.
We adapt the classes according to your wants and needs. For instance, if you do not feel at home in a kayak, we will devote more time to perfecting your technique in calmer sections of the river; conversely, if you are a fast learner, we will speed up the learning process to be able to teach you more. At the end of each day, we will devise a plan for what we will learn the next day.
* A single kayaking instructor will teach a minimum of two and a maximum of five persons at a time.
